How can a mentor advise his/her mentee on questions about college and careers? Studies show that the caring adult can guide young persons towards academic and professional success and financial self-sufficiency…but it does call for a certain level of familiarity and comfort with the topic. That’s where Colorado’s free, portable, comprehensive online guidance system, www.CollegeInColorado.org comes in! A one-stop-shop for everything a learner needs to know about career exploration, college preparation and selection, financial aid and scholarships, College In Colorado awaits the click of the enquiring mouse. Our regional coordinators will train you, your staff and your mentors on how to use the system. Furthermore, if you so choose, you can affiliate with College In Colorado and track, review and report on your mentee’s progress from school to college and into the workforce. There’s much, much more that you and your mentors can put to effective use right away. Much of the website is available in Spanish…and it’s all free! A service of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, delivering on the Colorado Promise. If you are not with a YMC agency, please bring a check made out to the "youth mentoring collaborative" for $10 per person. Pizza served at 5:30pm. |
